Health Protection Agency HPA reports that 11 individuals were tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday in the Maldives.
In a tweet, HPA said that this includes 7 new cases reported from the Greater Male' Area, 3 confirmed from operational resorts, and 1 case reported from an inhabited island.
HPA noted that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has now reached 13,379.
HPA also said 25 people had recovered from the illness in the country yesterday and that the total number of recoveries has now reached 12,731.
The Agency also said that the number of active cases of COVID-19 has dropped to 593 and that 62 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The country has recorded 48 COVID-19 deaths since April of this year and this includes 41 locals and 7 foreigners.
Yesterday, authorities had opened the Greater Male' Area for tourists months after its closure due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. It was reported that 15 guesthouses with prior approval from HPA and Ministry of Tourism reopened for business on Monday and that these include establishments in Male' as well as in Hulhumale'.
