Health Protection Agency HPA says 22 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in the country on Saturday.

In a tweet, HPA said that this includes 15 new cases from the Greater Male’ Area, 4 new cases reported from inhabited islands, and 3 new cases confirmed from the operational resorts

HPA also said that this takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 13,348

HPA also revealed that 19 people have recovered from the illness yesterday in the Maldives and that the total number of recoveries has now reached 12,659 in the Maldives.

The Agency said that the active cases of COVID-19 in the country were at 634 and that 61 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.

HPA had confirmed that 48 people have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives since April of this year including 41 locals and 7 foreigners.

On Friday, a 69-year-old Maldivian man admitted at Dharumavanth Hospital 11th floor, DH11 had passed away.

Earlier this month a 75-year-old local man had also succumbed to the illness while under treatment.
