Health Protection Agency HPA says 39 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in the country today.

In a tweet, HPA said that this includes 37 new cases from the Greater Male’ Area, 1 new case reported from an industrial island, and 1 case confirmed from an inhabited island.

HPA also said that this takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 13,198.

HPA also revealed that 57 people have recovered from the illness today in the Maldives and that the total number of recoveries has now reached 12,321 in the Maldives.

The Agency said that there are 823 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 71 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.

HPA had confirmed that 47 people have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives since April of this year including 40 locals and 7 foreigners.

Yesterday, HPA had extended the state of public health emergency declared in the country for an additional month. This is the 10th time it was extended since being implemented last march amid the COVID-19 outbreak and is set to expire on the 4th of January next year.
