Police are investigating a suspicious incident in Addu City when a pickup in the city caught fire last night.
It said that the incident was reported to the police after a pickup parked in front of the service garage near Addu High School caught fire last night around 12:56 am.
Police said civilians near the area had help extinguish the fire and that no one was injured in the incident. It also said that the vehicle had sustained severe damages in the fire and that front of the vehicle had most of the damages.
Police added that it was actively investigating the incident.
It is unclear whether this incident is an arson attack or whether it's an accidental fire.
Damaging public and private property is a criminal offense and police have been actively apprehending such offenders. Police apprehended 4 people after a police vehicle was set ablaze in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo last August.
