Health Protection Agency HPA reports another COVID-19 death in the Maldives after a local man under treatment succumbed to the illness earlier today.
In a tweet, HPA confirmed that at 07: 49 am, a 75-year-old local man admitted at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility HMF passed away due to COVID-19.
HPA noted that this is the 47th person to die from COVID-19 in the country and the first person to die from the illness this month. Last month, 8 people had died from COVID-19 in the Maldives with two dying on the same day.
HPA had said that the 47 people who died include 40 locals and 7 foreigners. The 7 foreigners who have succumbed to COVID-19 in the Maldives include 6 Bangladeshi nationals and one Filipino national.
The Agency has said last night that a total of 13,011 people has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives. It said that out of that 11,939 people have recovered and that 1019 remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the island nation.
HPA also confirmed that 95 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized for further treatment.
