The President’s Office has today opened applications for the post of Member of the Elections Commission.
Applications for the position are open following a vacancy at the commission.
The President’s Office will accept applications between 30 November until 2 December 2020, from 0930 to 1230 hours.
Application forms are available from the President’s Office and are available for download at www.presidency.gov.mv.
This comes after commission member Ahmed Akram resigned from his post earlier this month amid allegations of sexual abuse against a female staff working at the commission.
He resigned after the Parliament's committee on independent institutions voted to dismiss the disgraced member from his post.
Before resigning Akram has said that there was no point holding onto his seat at the Commission when the parliamentary committee on independent institutions has lost its confidence in him.
