Health Protection Agency HPA says as case numbers are steadily coming down, the country needs to be vigilant more than ever.
This comes after it reported just 16 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Saturday.
In a tweet, HPA said that country needs to work together to slow the spread and maintaining this declining trend. HPA reminded the public to wash their hands frequently with soap and to wear masks when in public. It also urged the public to keep their contact bubble small to avoid a third wave of the infection.
Yesterday, HPA said that only 13 locals and 3 foreigners tested positive for COVID-19 in the country. It said that this included 13 cases reported from the Greater Male' Area and 3 confirmed from the islands.
It had said that the total COVID-19 cases reported in the country has now reached 11, 659.
A total of 10,814 people have now recovered from the illness after contracting the pandemic and just 800 active cases remain in the country.
HPA said that out of those 251 remained at isolation facilities while 55 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized.
The Agency had yesterday confirmed that a total of 38 individuals have now died from COVID-19 in the Maldives after a 60-year-old local man taken to Dhaalu Atoll Hospital had died from the illness.
