Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 51 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Saturday.
HPA said that yesterday 44 cases were reported from the Greater Male’ Area while 7 new cases were confirmed from the islands and resorts.
HPA highlighted that the new cases include 35 locals and 16 foreigners. This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to 10,859.
Meanwhile, HPA reported on Saturday that 94 individuals have recovered from the illness in the Maldives yesterday. With this, a total of 9683 people have now recovered from the global pandemic in the Maldives.
The Agency said that 1135 active cases remained in the country with 376 kept at isolation facilities manned by the state. HPA also revealed that 74 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
It confirmed that 22 islands across the country are hosting 153 active cases of COVID-19 at the moment. HPA also said that 20 resorts have COVID-19 cases including 10 tourists and 17 staff.
The devastating pandemic has claimed 34 lives here in the Maldives including 28 locals and 6 foreigners. Authorities also said that the confirmed cases include 7 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
