Police have confiscated 300kg of narcotics drugs seized from various crime scenes.
Police said these were narcotics seized from crime scene processed until June of this year and were destroyed in Dhoonidhoo earlier this morning.
Police said that they had destroyed 324.05kg of narcotics drugs which include 108.81kg of heroin, 158.8kg of cannabis, 39.04kg of methamphetamine recimate, 14.9kg of cocaine, and 1.7kg of MDM.
It also said that police had destroyed other items related to drug abuse and trafficking which include 25,880 rubber packets, 11,794 cellophane pieces, 734 empty film cans, 4 bullets, 233 hand-rolled smokes, 11156 pills, and 79225 other items.
Home Minister Imran Abdullah and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed took part in the ceremony held to confiscate the seized item along with top officials from the police service, members of the media, and civilians.
Speaking at the event, Minister Imran reiterated that the government and police were working to make the country a drug-free community and have busted several drug operations in the past few months. He assured that narcotics seized from such operations would be confiscated as soon as possible.
