Island Aviation Services Limited has signed an agreement with Addu International Airports PVT Ltd to commence Seaplane Operations between Addu and Huvadhoo Atoll today.
Several top-level officials including Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail and Tourism Minister Dr. Abdullah Mausoom as well as other representatives of the region took part in the ceremony held today.
Speaking the agreement-signing ceremony, Island Aviation Managing Director Mohamed Rizvi noted the company’s effort to increase the benefit of tourism to different corners of the country.
He said that signing an agreement to operate seaplane in the region will boost the number of tourist activities in the region.
Meanwhile, speaking at the Managing Director of Addu International Airport AIA Gais Naseer highlighted the economic impact of the project stating that this operation will increase jobs and economic activity in the region.
He also noted that the potential for an influx of investments being attracted to the region.
The Economic Ministry via twitter hailed the signing as a monumental step for the development of tourism and other economic activities in the Southern Atolls.
It also said that this was another testament to the Government's commitment to decentralized economic development.
