President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has wished US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump a speedy recovery after both tests positive for COVID-19.
In a tweet, President Solih said that he and his wife first lady Fazna send their good wishes to the President of the United States and the First Lady. He also said that they wished both of them a speedy recovery.
US President Trump had announced via twitter that he and US First Lady Melania had tested positive for the global pandemic and that they will now go into quarantine and recover process immediately.
He had also said that they will get through this together.
Trump's announcement comes just over a month before the presidential elections on 3 November, where he faces Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
World media also reported that Hope Hicks, one of his closest aides, had earlier tested positive.
Hicks had traveled with President Trump on Air Force One to the first presidential TV debate with Biden in Ohio on Tuesday.
Some of Trump's family members who attended the debate were seen not wearing masks.
More than 7 million people in the United States have tested positive for COVID-19 with 212,726 death reported in the country.
