Health Protection Agency HPA says 81 individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 in the country on Saturday.

In a tweet, HPA said 70 new cases were reported from the Greater Male’ Area yesterday while 11 others were confirmed from the islands and resorts.

HPA said the new cases include 58 locals and 23 foreigners.

This has taken the total COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives to 9649.

Meanwhile, HPA said that 111 individuals had recovered from COVID-19 in the country on Saturday taking the total recoveries to 8188 since March of this year.

HPA said that 1422 remained as active cases of COVID-19 across the island while 650 were currently under isolation at various facilities across the country.

The Agency also reported that 111 COVID-19 patients were currently hospitalized.

HPA said yesterday that 22 islands across the country are hosting 48 active cases of COVID-19. It also said that 25 resorts also have active cases of COVID-19 which includes 15 tourists and 39 staff.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed 33 individuals here in the Maldives including 27 locals and 6 foreigners.
