Health Protection Agency HPA says more than 8000 individuals have recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives.
In its latest update, HPA said that 130 individuals had recovered from the illness in the Maldives on Thursday. HPA added that this has taken the total number of recoveries in the country to 8033.
With this, the total number of active cases of COVID-19 in the country has now dropped to 1422. HPA also confirmed that the number of individuals under isolation has also reduced to 684.
HPA said that 104 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized for further treatment across the country.
A total of 67 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country yesterday with 62 cases in Greater Male' Area and 5 from the islands.
The total number of COVID-19 cases has now reached 9494 in the Maldives.
HPA noted that 20 islands in the country are hosting active cases of COVID-19 right now and that Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Hoadehdhoo and Madaveli remained under monitoring as authorities control a local transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic in the former.
HPA also said that 29 resorts are also hosting COVID-19 cases in the country right now and that this includes 21 tourists and 48 staff.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 33 lives here in the Maldives including 27 locals and 6 foreigners.
