Health Protection Agency HPA says 85 individuals in the Maldives tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

In its latest update, HPA said that the 82 cases were reported from the Greater Male’ Area while 3 were confirmed from the islands.

HPA said that the new cases included 46 locals and 39 foreigners.

The total number of COVID-19 cases has now reached 9328 since the pandemic reached the country’s shores back in March.

Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that 193 individuals had recovered from the illness on Tuesday in the country and that the total number of recoveries has now reached 7729

HPA said that the total number of active cases have now dropped from 1668 to 1560 in the last 24 hours.

However, HPA said that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has increased since Monday with 111 individuals currently treatment at hospital settings.

HPA added that 767 remained under isolation at various facilities across the country.

A total of 33 individuals have succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country since April including 26 locals and 6 foreigners.
