Health Protection Agency HPA says 70 individuals in the Maldives tested positive for COVID-19 today.
In its latest update, HPA said that the 65 cases were reported from the Greater Male’ Area while 5 were confirmed from the islands.
HPA said that the new cases included 48 locals and 22 foreigners.
The total number of COVID-19 cases has now reached 9243 since the Maldives reported its first case of COVID-19 back in March.
Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that 210 individuals had recovered from the illness today in the country and that the total number of recoveries has now reached a promising 7536.
HPA said that the total number of active cases have now dropped from 1809 to1668 in the last 24 hours. HPA also said that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients had also reduced since yesterday with 105 individuals currently treatment at hospital settings.
HPA added that 834 remained under isolation at various facilities across the country.
Earlier today, HPA had confirmed that a 79-year-old man had died from COVID-19 while under treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor DH11. He is the 5th person to die from COVID-19 in the country this month and the 33rd to succumb to the illness in the Maldives since April.
