Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 93 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Wednesday.

In a tweet, HPA said 86 new cases reported from the Male’ Area while 7 were confirmed from the islands.

It said that this includes 67 locals and 26 foreigners.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country has now reached 8834.

Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that 131 recovered from the illness in the Maldives on Wednesday. It said that the total number of recoveries now stands at 6288.

HPA also said that number of active cases of COVID-19 in the country dropped from 2549 to 2509 in the last 24 hours.

HPA also reported a significant drop in hospitalized COVID-19 patients as it reduced from 139 to 127 in that same period.

It reported that 1034 individuals remained under isolation at various facilities across the country.

The COVID-19 deaths confirmed in the Maldives reached 31 on Wednesday as two were reported yesterday.

The 31 individuals who died from COVID-19 in the country include 25 Maldivians and 6 foreigners.
