Leading Pediatrician Dr. Ahmed Faisal says families must plan for the possibility that a member of the household might test positive for COVID-19 as the pandemic remains rampant in the Greater Male’ Area.

In a tweet, Dr. Faisal said that a lot of the families he had spoken with revealed that most of the time the families were unprepared for a COVID-19 positive result for a family member as the result was unexpected.

He said most don’t have plans in case a member of the family is tested positive and that this leads to more tension and confusion.

Dr. Faisal urged all to plan for a potential COVID-19 positive result among families to avoid such confusion in the future.

His comments came as authorities confirmed 581 cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives in the last five days. Out of these cases, 533 cases reported from the Greater Male’ Area where the pandemic is widespread.

The country has recorded 8584 cases of COVID-19 since March of this year and the pandemic has claimed 29 lives here in the Maldives. This includes 23 Maldivians and 6 foreigners.
