Health Protection Agency HPA says 80 individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 in the country today while 159 recovered from the global pandemic.
In a tweet, HPA said out of the 80 cases reported today, 77 were reported from the Greater Male’ Area and the remaining 3 were confirmed from the islands.
HPA said the new cases included 60 locals and 20 foreigners.
The total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 8361.
Meanwhile, HPA said that 159 individuals had recovered from the illness in the country today. It said the total number of recoveries has now reached a promising 5642.
HPA has confirmed that the number of active cases in the country has reduced from 2763 to 2684 in the last 24 hours. It also reported that the number of individuals placed under isolation has also reduced from 1304 to 1253 in that period.
However, the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has increased from 157 to 162 in the last 24 hours.
The Pandemic has claimed 29 lives in the Maldives including 23 locals and 6 foreigners.
HPA said tonight that confirmed cases of COVID-19 include 6 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
