The government repatriates 200 more Bangladeshi nationals today as authorities continue to send back migrant workers from the country.
In a tweet, national carrier Maldivian said that it had repatriated 200 Bangladeshis aboard its flight that departed from Velaana International Airport today.
The flight is set to return the migrants to Bangladeshi capital Dhaka as the number of migrants repatriated since April of this year reaches 6332.
Maldivian government has been working with the Bangladeshi authorities to repatriate its nationals back to the country.
Both the Economic Ministry along with the Foreign Ministry has been working in the repatriation work as well as national carrier Maldivian which has been chartering flights to carry the migrants back.
Health Protection Agency’s latest data on the COVID-19 pandemic shows that 2223 Bangladeshi nationals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives with 22 Bangladeshi national testing positive yesterday alone.
