An expatriate worker employed at one of the local fishing vessels has died amid a fishing trip on Thursday.
According to Maldives Police Service, they received report of an expatriate passing away amid trip was received around 14:10hrs of Thursday afternoon. The expatriate was a deckhand of the fishing vessel, and was aged 41 years at the time of his demise.
The fishing vessel has been identified as a Gaaf Alif atoll Vilingili registered boat, and the deceased expat was rushed to Gaaf Alif Atoll Hospital minutes after he collapsed on deck.
Meanwhile Maldives Police Service assures they were probing for matters relevant to the case.
On the other hand Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) confirms receiving a report of vessel deckhand experiencing seizure attacks while out on a fishing trip, and the incident was reported from a vessel originating from Gaaf Alif atoll Vilingili.
Moreover, MNDF confirms the fishing vessel had already entered the bay of Vilingili by the time the authority's speed-boat reached.
