A member of the public has submitted a complaint against the members of the Anti-Corruption Commission accusing them of abusing their powers and responsibilities for personal gain.
In the letter of complaint, the individual noted that former Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam had used an MNDF VIP facility built in Villimale for personal use by abusing the powers vested in him.
The letter also sheds light on the fact that Shiyam had housed his father for 1 year and a half while his father was recovering from an illness and had his subordinates at the MNDF serve his father.
It also said that the facility was being used despite the absence of a guideline on how and when to use the VIP facility.
The letter said while the subsequent investigation determined that Shiyam had indeed carried out these actions, the ACC had decided that there was no corruption involved in the case. It said this itself is proof that members of the ACC had misused the powers and responsibilities given to them for personal gain.
The letter further requested police to look into the matter and to determine whether or not the current members of the ACC have committed a crime as stated in section (c) of Article 513 of the Penal Code.
