The families of missing reporter Ahmed Rilwan and slain blogger Yaamin Rasheed have registered an NGO that advocates democracy in the country.
Ministry of youth confirmed the registration and said that the NGO named Association for Democracy in the Maldives was registered earlier today.
It also said that Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof had handed over the registration document to Rilwan’s sister Fathimath Shehenza today.
Sources have said that the NGO will seek to secure justice for the missing reporter and murdered blogger as well as any other denied justice. It would also work to promote democracy and defend human rights issues here in the Maldives.

Journalist at Minivan News Rilwan was last seen on 8th August 2014. He is believed to have been abducted and killed by a group of radicals.
Blogger Yaamin was brutally murdered after being attacked with a sharp object. He was found lying near the staircase of Maafanu Septula with multiple wounds on 23rd April 2017.
