Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that 107 individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 today.

In a tweet, HPA reported that out of the 107 cases, 104 were reported from the Greater Male' Area while 3 were confirmed from the Islands.

HPA outlined that the new cases included 73 Maldivians, 29 Bangladeshis, 3 Indians, 1 Filipino and 1 Sri Lankan national.

With these new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has now reached 5679.

Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that 14 islands across the country are hosting active cases of COVID-19 at the moment. This includes Haa Alifu Filladhoo, Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo, Haa Dhaalu Navaidhoo, R Hulhudhufaaru, Baa Kamadhoo, B Kudarikilu, Lhaviyani Naifaru, Lhaviyani Hinnavaru, Kaafu Thulusdhoo, Kaafu Maafushi, Faafu Nilandhoo, Vaavu Fulidhoo, Fuvamulah City and Addu City Hithadhoo and Feydhoo.

HPA added that active cases remain in 9 resorts and that this includes 5 tourists and 12 staff.

Earlier today, Haa Dhaalu Kurinbee reported its first case of COVID-19.

Speaking to 'The Press', Vice President of Kurinbee Council Abdul Fathah Abubakar said that a sample taken from a person who had completed the mandatory 14-days home quarantine had tested positive for COVID-19.
