Mohamed Jais has been appointed as the Chairman of Housing Development Corporation today.
The Finance Ministry has confirmed his appointment and said that the Privatization and Corporation Board has approved this appointment.
Six members sit on the HDC board including the newly appointed chairman Jais.
The other five members include HDC Managing Director Suhail Ahmed, Director Ibrahim Afrat, Director Abdullah Rameez, Director Ahmed Athif, and Director Hassan Muneer.
The new appointment comes after the government had initiated talks to dissolve the Greater Male’ Industrial Zone Limited GMIZL yesterday and shift its duties and responsibilities under HDC.
Former President Abdullah Yameen established GMIZL to manage Thilafushi and Gulheefalhu while HDC manages Hulhumale.
