Maldives National Defence Force MNDF has appointed Colonel Mohamed Mukhtar as the Commandant of its Fire and Rescue Service today.
In a special ceremony held at MNDF Headquarters Bandaarakoshi, Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdullah Shamal presented the letter of appointment to Colonel Mukhtar.
Vice Chief of Defense Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef also attended the ceremony.
MNDF appointed Colonel Mukhtar as the Commander of the Fire and Rescue Service as the previous commander of the post Colonel Abdullah Ibrahim has to leave abroad for studies.
The Fire and Rescue Service of the MNDF is at the heart of any rescue operation in the country especially ones that require putting out fires.
The service has highly trained officers that work tirelessly and without hesitance, as witnessed in two major fire disasters in the capital Male’ City in the last year.
