Health Protection Agency HPA has placed Addu City Hithadhoo under monitoring after a person under home quarantine tested positive for COVID-19.
HPA had sent the notice stating that Hithadhoo was under monitoring to the city Mayor earlier today and said that it was brought under monitoring to carry out essential tasks as part of the fight against the pandemic.
Earlier the Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC confirmed that a 38-year-old foreigner who had completed the mandatory home quarantine after traveling from Male’ had tested positive for COVID-19 in Hithadhoo. HEOC also said that the person was tested on the 8th of this month.
Last night, HEOC had confirmed that a 38-year-old male under home quarantine in Addu City Feydhoo has tested positive for COVID-19.
HEOC said that the person had traveled to Addu on the 6th of August and had tested for the pandemic before traveling to Addu City.
Meanwhile, a member of the Addu City Council had confirmed to ‘The Press’ that the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 in Feydhoo was a police officer.
Authorities are now carrying out contact tracing for the individual as Health Protection Agency HPA has reported active cases of COVID-19 in 12 islands and 8 resorts across the country.
The islands with active cases of COVID-19 include Haa Alifu Kela, Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo, Haa Alifu Filladhoo, Haa Dhaalu Navaidhoo, Baa Kudarikilu, Baa Kamadhoo, Raa Inguraidhoo, Raa Hulhudhufaaru, Lhaviyani Hinnavaru, Kaa Maafushi, Vaavu Fulidhoo and Fuvamulah City.
Although HPA did not reveal the names of the resorts with active cases of COVID-19, it did say that the 8 resorts have 6 resorts and 9 staff members infected with the global pandemic.
