The number of hospitalized cases in Maldives have made a resurgence with the emergence of a second wave of Covid-19 in Greater Male' Region.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Thursday, 6 August 2020, confirms that a total of 128 individuals are currently hospitalized receiving treatment for Covid-19.
Moreover the authority attests that as of Wednesday evening a total of 110 individuals were hospitalized and subjected to treatment while another 18 were hospitalized within the last 24 hours.
The surge in hospitalized cases become more apparent as on 4 August, HPA confirms the total hospitalized cases were at 92 while 87 of them were admitted at Hulhumale' Medical Center.
Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq further attests that out of the hospitalized cases, six remain in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The number of hospitalized cases have increased complementing the resurgence of positive Covid-19 cases with as many as 215 cases reported in a recent 24 hour window.
Meanwhile, Maldives government declared another curfew on Greater Male' Region as the viral contagion was once again back to a community spread.
