Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 86 new cases of COVID-19 in the country today.

In a tweet, HPA said that the 86 new cases included 56 Maldivians, 27 Bangladeshis, 1 Indian, 1 Filipino, and 1 Sri Lankan national.

Out of the 86 cases reported today, 85 were confirmed from the Greater Male’ Area while 1 case was reported from the islands.

Currently, 13 islands have active cases of COVID-19 including Haa Alifu Kelaa, Ihavandhoo, Baa Eydhafushi, Kamadhoo, Hithadhoo, Seaside Finolhu, Lhaviyani Hinnavaru, Kurendhoo, Kaafu Maafushi, Vaavu Fulidhoo, Baa Kudakirili and Raa Hulhudhufaaru

Today’s new cases have taken the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4680 since the country reported its first case of the pandemic back in March.

HPA also said that 19 people had recovered from the illness today. This has taken the total number of recoveries to a promising 2725.

HPA has confirmed that there are over 1963 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 128 individuals hospitalized with the illness in the Maldives.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed 19 people in the Maldives including 14 locals and 5 foreigners.
