An elderly patient arriving in Maldives capital from Alif Alif atoll Omadhoo tests positive for Covid-19 as per health authorities.
Deputy president of Omadhoo Council, Ali Fikuree claims the patient has been identified as a 64 year old elderly lady local to the island.
Moreover, Omadhoo Council's deputy informs the patient has a record of chronic respiratory issues and her condition worsened on 4 August, Tuesday, after which she was transferred to Male' City following instructions from the doctors at Omadhoo Health Center.
Fikuree confirms the elderly lady was brought to Male' City sometime on Tuesday evening following doctor's instructions.
She was tested positive for the viral disease after her check-up at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) where she was inspected for the presence of Covid-19.
Meanwhile Fikuree notes authorities have commenced taking safety measures in the island of Omadhoo despite no formal confirmation by Health Protection Agency (HPA) about a monitoring status.
Furthermore, following the positive case from Omadhoo many of the doctors and nurses of the island's health center remain in home-isolation while the work at the center has been stalled.
