Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo Council confirms one more individual has tested positive for COVID-19 in the island taking the total number of positive cases to three.
Speaking to ‘The Press’ Ihavandhoo Council President Mohamed Rasheed said that the latest to test positive for COVID-19 was a crew member of the boat named ‘242’.
He said the person was tested positive after the contact tracing of another individual who had tested positive for the illness after traveling aboard the same boat.
While two individuals who traveled aboard ‘242’ boat had tested positive for COVID-19, an individual related to another cluster had also tested positive for COVID-19 from Ihavandhoo.
The council had confirmed that the infected individuals remained under home quarantine.
Following the confirmation of the positive cases, HPA had place the island under monitoring, the statement released by the island council urged the residents not to go out unless absolutely necessary and to don facemasks when going outside.
