Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 61 new cases of COVID-19 as the recent surge of cases continues with the country still under semi lockdown.
In its latest tweet, HPA said that the 61 individuals included 44 Maldivians, 15 Bangladeshis, and 2 Indians.
With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has now climbed to 3567 since March when the pandemic first reached its shores.
HPA also confirmed that 7 individuals have recovered from the illness today in the country and that a total of 2554 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
HPA also reported that while no new cases were reported in the Islands, there are currently 983 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
It said that 657 were being hosted at various isolation facilities run by the state.
HPA also listed islands and resorts with active cases of COVID-19 in tonight’s update. This included Haa Alifu Atoll Kelaa, Cheval Blanc Randheli Resort, Soneva Jani Resort, Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru, Hulhudhufaaru and Iguraiadhoo, Baa Atoll Eydhafushi, Hithadhoo, Seaside Finolhu Resort, Lhaviyani Kurendhoo, Kaafu Maafushi, Alifu Alifu Thoddu.
The Maldives has recorded 15 COVID-19 deaths since its outbreak begun back in April which included 10 locals and 15 foreigners.
