A total of 220 individuals working in the front lines in Covid-19 related efforts have received a combined total of MVR2.9 million, reports Ministry of Finance.
The ministry confirms the allowance for front line workers were disbursed officially on Wednesday, 29 July.
Moreover, the ministry confirms the allowance disbursed on Wednesday covers for the period from 7 March 2020 - the discovery of first Covid-19 case in Maldives - until end of June.
Ministry of Finance adds it was currently attempting to provide allowances for the remaining front line workers - asserting the initiative was in pending.
Meanwhile the government body confirms data verification and approval works for pending workers were currently underway.
