Mp for Maavashu constituency and PNC Vice President Mohamed Saeed has been admitted at the hospital after suffering injuries during the protests held by the opposition coalition last night.
Opposition sources said the MP suffered injuries after police used pepper spray to control the demonstrators after they broke police ranks during the demonstrators.
The sources also said that as the MP was currently under treatment, his condition was yet unknown.
Several other protesters suffered the after-effects of the pepper spray as the PNC/PMM coalition held demonstrations for a second time this week.
Several top leaders from the opposition coalition took part in last night’s demonstrations with PNC President Abdul Raheem Abdullah also present along with leaders from PPM.
Several protesters were arrested during the demonstrations including PNC Council Member Ahmed Nareesh.
Also a presenter for Channel 13 news, Nareesh was first seen leading last night’s demonstrations.
His arrest by police led to the scuffle between police and protesters that ultimately made the law enforcement officers use pepper spray to control the crowd.
Protesters had called for the resignation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih while also demanding an independent judiciary and action against organizations like Uthema and MDN.
