Health Protection Agency HPA says 50 more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 today as the number of new cases surpass 3,300.

In its latest tweet, HPA said that the 50 new cases included 34 Maldivians, 14 Bangladeshis, and 2 Indians.

The total number of COVID-19 cases has now climbed to a staggering 3302.

HPA also reported that no individuals recovered from the virus today and that the active number of cases in the country now stands at 738.

HPA added that 574 people are currently under isolation at various facilities.

The number of cases has been on the rise in the last couple of days with 77 new cases of COVID-19 reported yesterday.

Since the discovery of the first case of COVID-19 back in March, the government had been implementing strict rules to deter the spread of the pandemic.

But at the beginning of this month, the government had eased lockdown measures considerably allowing schools, government offices and mosques to reopen.

Also, parks, public spaces, cafés, restaurants, and gyms have also been allowed to resume operations in the Male area where the pandemic is still rampant.
