An employed staff of Maldives Ministry of Islamic Affairs has tested positive for Covid-19, as confirmed on Thursday, 23 July 2020.

Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) on Thursday confirms the news with local media outlet 'The Press'.

Moreover, health authorities are currently attempting contact tracing to assess possible contacts and find any cluster of spread. HEOC further notifies the ministry's premises was currently under a disinfection process.

Sources claim the Covid-19 positive case from the ministry was discovered on 20 July 2020, although the confirmation was made official two days later.

The infected has also been confirmed of spending a home isolation period following her husband testing positive for the viral contagion earlier.
