Health Protection Agency HPA has revised the guideline on home quarantine procedure for those traveling from abroad returning to Male’ & traveling from Male’ to other islands.

HPA said that Maldivians, expatriates with work permits and dependents of expatriates with work permit traveling to Maldives from abroad and those traveling to Male’ and to other islands must home quarantine.

HPA also said that a person could request for quarantine through ‘haalubelun' portal upon registering on the portal. It also said that the person should arrange the place of stay for home quarantine and that home quarantine time will begin from the date the person reaches Male.

The Agency also clarified that the Home quarantine period currently is 14 days and that at end of quarantine period the person would be tested for COVID-19 and if the test result is negative the person will be released as per the existing protocol.

HPA explained that in case the test result comes positive for COVID-19, the procedure in place for handling a positive case would be followed.

HPA noted that it is important for all the Maldivians and work permit holders returning to the Maldives, to follow this guideline during COVID-19, if staying in Male’ where there is a community spread or if traveling to an island without a community spread.

Severa individuals from different islands have tested positive for COVID-19 while under home quarantine.
