Health Protection Agency HPA cautions against gatherings of more than 30 people with new cases of COVID-19 reported in the country increasing in the last few days.

In a statement, HPA said that the number of positive cases and the contacts for these have been gradually increasing in the last few days.

It said that this was mainly due to the fact that people have been holding social and official mass gatherings since the authorities eased the lockdown at the beginning of this month.

HPA also said that the lockdown was eased with the instruction to follow its guidelines and this would include not holding gatherings of 30 or more people at one time.

It also recommended online platforms to hold meetings and gatherings that require a number of people to participate.

HPA’s caution comes after more than 100 individuals tested positive for the highly contagious global pandemic in the last four days in the Maldives.
