Police have seized ex-tourism Minister Ali Waheed’s passport and have banned him from traveling abroad amid allegations of sexual harassment against the embittered minister.
Police said the ban on travel for the former Minister was placed under a court order.
Earlier, Police had raided the residence of the ex-Minister under a court order.
Police had confiscated his laptop and mobile phone and said that the devices were confiscated in order to acquire all necessary evidence crucial for the ongoing investigation against the scrutinized ex-minister.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih surprised the nation when he requested his tourism Minister Ali Waheed to resign from his post following several sexual harassment allegations made against him by a group of female colleagues in the ministry.
When the Minister failed to heed the request, the President dismissed Ali Waheed, making him the first Minister to be fired from President Solih’s cabinet.
