Health Protection Agency HPA report has confirmed 36 new cases of COVID-19 in the country as the government ponders the outcomes of the latest lockdown ease.
In a tweet, HPA said that the new cases include 33 locals, 2 Bangladeshi nationals, and 1 Indian.
Today’s positive cases have taken the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to a staggering 2553.
Meanwhile, HPA said that 47 individuals have recovered from the illness in the Maldives today.
The total number of recovered cases has now reached 2227 with only 306 active cases of the global pandemic reported in the Maldives.
HPA also confirmed that 283 people remained under isolation while another 97 individuals have been quarantined at various locations.
The Maldives has recorded 13 COVID-19 related deaths in the country including 8 locals and 5 foreigners. The eight locals who died of the highly contagious are all elderly individuals and include 4 men and 4 women.
