President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has chaired a meeting held this afternoon with relevant stakeholders, to discuss the outcomes of the gradual easing of temporary restrictive measures enacted in response to Covid-19.
The President’s Office said that this meeting was held as part of a series of ongoing stakeholder sessions to facilitate the Government’s overall monitoring of the country’s health situation, following the dissolution of the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).
In light of the Maldives’ successes in managing the pandemic, the country moved into a new phase in the fight against Covid-19 starting July 01, 2020, under the Government’s overall strategy to steer the country towards a ‘new normal.’
It also said that the meeting's discussions centered on the specifics of the ‘new normal,’ increasing public awareness and health sector preparedness, and addressing any further challenges to the Government’s health response.
Vice President Faisal Naseem and several Cabinet Ministers took part in the discussions.
Senior officials at the President’s Office, health professionals, and senior officials of the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC), the Maldives Police Service, and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) also attended the meeting.
