President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says public confusion about the reports brought by the media can only be avoided when state institutions speedily disseminate information.
He made the comments in his meeting with members of the Police Service today.
President Solih said that coverage by some media creates misunderstandings and confusion among the general population.
He noted that because of such misunderstanding and confusion, the trust between the police force and the public would get lost.
President said the reason behind such misunderstandings is the delay in sharing information with the public and if the delay is corrected such confusion would not be created.
President Solih also said that the government wants to hurry justice and investigations and trials must hasten to achieve justice.
He also said much work remained to overcome the challenges and obstacles brought about by the COVID-19 crisis.
He highlighted that several social issues remained unsolved and that this includes the battle against drugs, issues of expatriates workers and the rise in sexual abuse and rape cases.
