The temporary ban on congregational prayers following discovery of Covid-19 virus in Maldives capital Male' City, will come to an end on Wednesday.
As per Ministry of Islamic Affairs communal prayers will recommence on 30 June from dusk (Maqrib) prayers onward in Greater Male' Region.
The ministry's circular published on Tuesday evening read mosques at Male' City, Vilimale, Hulhumale', Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu will reopen for communal prayers while it has advised on safety and precautionary measures prayers must follow.
City Council urges mosques to refrain from using carpets on the floor, mopping the floors before and after every prayer as well as prayers to wash their hands properly. The council urges mosques to arrange for sanitizers or hand-soaps made available in ablution areas.
Several other precautionary measures have been placed by the ministry which states prayers to take their own prayers mat, attend mosques after performing ablution from home and to wear face masks while within the premises of the mosque.
