President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says cafe’ and restaurants would be allowed to resume operations as the country ventures into the new normal way of life amid the pandemic.

In a tweet, President Solih said under new normal rules businesses including shops, cafes and restaurants would resume services tomorrow.

Authorities ordered the closure of cafe and restaurants in March after the discovery of the COVID-19 in the Maldives.

Meanwhile, President Solih also said that on the 1st July 2020 the National Emergency Operations Centre shall cease its operations managing the Maldives’ Covid 19 response.

He thanked all those who worked on the frontlines- the healthcare professionals and various government agencies and volunteers- who went beyond the call of duty to successfully manage this pandemic and avert worst case projections.
