Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that a 9th person has died of COVID-19 in the Maldives as the country prepares for the next phase in its fight against the global pandemic.
HPA confirmed that a 43-year-old Filippino man died of COVID-19 in the Maldives today and that the patient had been under treatment for the illness at Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor DH11.
HPA also said that the patient passed away around 1:50 pm this afternoon.
This takes the total number of deaths in the country to 9 with 4 locals and 5 foreigners.
Yesterday, HPA had said that authorities had moved three critical Covid-19 patients, from Tree Top hospital to DH11 after their condition worsened. HPA also confirmed that two of the patients were on the ventilator and that it would be monitoring their situation closely.
A total of 2237 has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.
HPA confirmed that 303 people remained under isolation while 132 were quarantined at various facilities and locations.
