As the country prepares to reopen its borders next month, 37 resorts in the Maldives are gearing up to resume operations in July.

In a list published by Travel Trade Maldives, it said that out of the 37 that would resume operations in July, 29 resorts would open for service on the 15th of July.

Last week President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that the country would reopen its borders on the 15th of July.

The list also showed that while 1 resort aims to restart business on the 22nd of July, the other 7 resorts have been operation despite the Covid-19 crisis that saw the booming industry brought to a halt.

The list by Travel Trade Maldives also noted that 14 resorts would resume operations in August of this year while another 11 resorts are looking to welcome back tourists in September.

Also, Como Malifushi is earmarked to re-open in November of this year.

The Covid-19 crisis effectively closed down the tourist industry back in March after the first case of the illness was reported from a tourist in a resort.
