Health Protection Agency HPA says that 22 people tested positive for Covid-19 today while only 10 individuals recovered from the illness signaling a rise in the number of active cases in the country once again.

In its latest tweet, HPA said that the 22 people who tested positive for Covid-19 in the country include 8 locals, 13 Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian.

HPA also said that a total of 2260 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the country.

This includes 795 locals and 1175 Bangladeshi nationals living in the country.

HPA data shows that 81 percent of the individuals infected with the virus have now recovered from the virus in the country. Although only 408 individuals remain under treatment for the virus, this number has increased over the past few days.

The Maldives has recorded 8 deaths in relation to Covid-19 that includes four locals and four Bangladeshi nationals.

Authorities had placed the Male’ area under a strict lockdown last April following the discovery of the first case of Covid-19 in the capital city. But since then the government has eased the lockdown restrictions and is set to re-open the country’s borders in mid-July.
