President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announces that the country’s borders would re-open on the 15th of July.

Addressing the media, President Solih said the country has achieved commendable results in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. He said now the country is looking towards the new normal way of life amid the pandemic and move on to restart the country’s stagnant economy.

President Solih noted that once the borders re-open on the 15th of July, the country would essentially be open to international flights and travel. He added that resorts would be allowed to resume operations next month.

President Solih said guesthouses in local islands would be allowed to resume operations in August of this year.

He said that all the airports in the country would resume operations next month.

President Solih many countries are declaring the Maldives as a safe country to visit and that this is the most satisfying aspect of re-opening the borders.
