Authorities have acquired samples to test for presence of Covid-19 from individuals at Male' Jail after a stationed ESG Officer tested positive for the virus.
According to Maldives Correctional Service, samples from a total of 101 individuals at the premises were acquired for testing; which included samples collected from 70 officers and staff, 24 prisoners and cellmates as well as 7 waiters who are employed at the venue.
On Saturday additional positive cases included a Criminal Court staff and an employee of Ensis Fisheries Group along with two positive cases discovered from Gaaf Alif atoll Maamendhoo.
Moreover, Saturday marks the highest positive case discovery since the lockdown was lifted off on 15 June, Monday. Health authorities reported a total of 37 cases on Saturday.
Meanwhile another 16 individuals have been discovered with Covid-19 while the total positive cases reported in Maldives have reached 2,203.
