Two individuals who recently traveled to Gaaf Alif atoll Maamendhoo test positive for Covid-19 disease according to health authorities.

While authorities have reported discovery of 2 additional positive cases from Maamendhoo, on 18 June it was reported another individual who traveled in the same flight tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile the island's Council authority President Mohamed Zaeem comments all three individuals testing positive for the virus have been under home quarantine.

It is reported that a total of 40 passengers traveled along with the individuals on 13 June, en route to Kooddoo. The flight carried locals from Gaaf Alif Gemanafushi apart from the three individuals from Maamendhoo.

Furthermore, it was confirmed the first positive case from Maamendhoo visited Male' City on 31 May, and flew to Maldives capital to assist a patient. The individual lodged at guesthouse in Male' City with two of their family members.

Additionally, the individual was initially tested for Covid-19 on 6 June during which the results came in negative.

Meanwhile the island's Council confirm they had not made contact with any other locals in the island.
