Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that the number of Covid-19 cases in the Maldives has now reached 2150.

This comes after HPA confirmed that 13 people were tested positive for the illness yesterday. HPA said that this includes 3 Maldivians and 10 Bangladeshi nationals.

A total of 740 locals have tested positive for the virus in the Maldives while 1,134 Bangladeshi nationals have been infected with the virus in the country. Also 200 Indians and 42 Nepalese have also tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives

Meanwhile, HPA reported that 10 people recovered from the illness yesterday taking the number of individuals who have been declared free of the virus to 1769. This means 82. 2 percent of individuals who had been infected have now recovered from Covid-19 in the country.

HPA said that there are 371 active cases of Covid-19 with 5 individuals hospitalized for further treatment.

It also said that 297 individuals remained under isolation while 156 people were still quarantined.

The government has been easing the restrictive measures taken against Covid-19 in recent weeks, as the infection appears to be in a downward trajectory. But authorities have warned of a second wave of infection and have advised the public to remain vigilant and to practice social distancing and good hygiene.
